Sensitive communication handled with care.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission cares for war graves, memorials and places of remembrance for servicemen and women from across the Commonwealth, helping keep their stories and sacrifices visible for future generations.

This project supported the Legacy of Liberation 80 campaign, a series of international commemorations marking 80 years since key moments of liberation and the closing stages of the Second World War.

The Aim

Create a brand and key visual plus a suite of assets to support public engagement with the Legacy of Liberation 80 commemorations in a way that feels respectful, accessible and grounded in the significance of the stories being told.

What Needed Solving

The campaign spanned multiple commemorative events and educational initiatives across the UK and Europe, including D-Day, Arnhem, Kohima, Operation Market Garden and the liberation of Jersey.

The materials needed to balance historical significance with accessibility, helping different generations connect with the human stories behind the events while maintaining an appropriate and thoughtful tone throughout.

What I Did

Developed public-facing materials with careful attention to structure, readability and tone, ensuring the information remains approachable and easy to engage with.

The focus was on helping people connect with the significance of the commemorations in a way that feels human, reflective and accessible — supporting remembrance while encouraging future generations to continue those stories forward.

Result

Materials that support remembrance, reflection and public engagement across commemorative and educational touchpoints.
